Graphic Designer
Indigo Skies LLC
May 2017 - Current

Indigo Skies is my little design company largely focused on book design. Most of the work I do includes freelance projects with publishers and self publishing agencies. I work closely with designers and editors at these companies to meet the needs of our clients by creating, editing, and designing book covers, interiors, ebooks, and promotional materials largely (but not always!) focused on book marketing. On the side, I'm illustrating my next mindfulness coloring book (the first being Enchanted Kingdom which was published through Cedar Fort).

Graphic Designer
Covenant Communications, Inc.
May 2019 - August 2021

At Covenant Communications I do a wide variety of design. Each book I create is followed through every step of the process, beginning with cover design and branching off into creating an audiobook, ebook, and marketing materials for each cover I create. There are many moving pieces, balanced expertly to meet deadlines. It's not just books I design here either, but occassionally Home Decor, packaging, and more. I also stay in contact with illustrators for our children's books and provide design feedback. Touching base with printers to approve proofs, and finally seeing the book on the shelf is all part of what I do here.

Marketing Intern
Shadow Mountain Publishing
January 2017 - May 2017

At Shadow Mountain Publishing, I designed marketing materials and while learning more about the marketing process for books. This process included acquisition, design, publication, and promotion. I loved spending time with the authors and finding the right materials that could market their product professionally and beautifully, whether that was designing social media banners, newspaper ads, posters, or book covers. In addition, I was trusted in creating the promotional materials for the release of Brandon Mull's Dragonwatch.

Marketing and Communications
Alexander's Print Advantage
June 2015 - December 2016

At Alexander's Print Advantage, I do a bit of writing and design work for the social media of Alexander's and Alexander's offshoot companies, including Divvy by Alexander's, and MyCanvas by Alexanders. These social media platforms include (but aren't limited to) providing meaningful content and graphics for Blogging, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram. I also create small marketing materials. Need a creative flier or innovative pamphlet? I'm your girl!

Graphic Design Intern
Cedar Fort Publishing Inc.

Nov 2014 - Feb 2015

At Cedar Fort, Inc. publishing house, I began my internship working on blog banners, coupons and pamphlets. Before long, I worked in tandem with head designers to create pleasing chapter headings, titles, and book interiors. During the last month of my internship, I worked primarily on book covers where I paired professional photos with lovely typography to capture the soul of the book.

Assistant Fencing Coach
Utah Sport Fencing Center

July 2011 - Aug 2015

At Utah Sport Fencing Center, I ensured that students learned the engaging art of swordplay in a safe environment. This meant instructing 2-30 kids in skill, safety, and respect, while simultaneously encouraging them to have fun. When the Head Coach was unable, I would take complete control of classes and teach valuable lessons. I also mended malfunctioning equipment, dispeled arguments, handled monetary payments, and ensured that the Fencing Center was professionally presented. I'd help host tournaments, parties, and movie nights - making sure there were pleanty of sweets at each!

Education
Utah Valley University

2010 - 2014

I began my time at UVU pursuing a Bachelor of Science in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing. With the aid of an Academic Full Tuition Scholarship for exemplar grades and behavior, I realized I could earn two degrees in four years time if I was dedicated. Consequently, I simultaneously pursued an Associate of Applied Science in Illustration, and graduated with both in 2014 with honors. That passion for uniting writing and art thrives with me today, and I dedicate my time to creating beautiful books.
